Incorporating Mental Wellness Into Your Spa Day

Incorporating Mental Wellness Into Your Spa Day

Mindfulness & Meditation: Incorporating Mental Wellness into Your Spa Day

This May, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we invite you to prioritize something that often gets pushed to the bottom of the list—your mental well-being. Between busy schedules, constant notifications, and the weight of daily demands, it’s easy to feel stretched thin. At WorldSprings, we believe mental health deserves intentional space, and our mineral-rich waters, peaceful environments, and therapeutic experiences are designed to offer just that.

Come experience the mood-boosting, stress-reducing power of mineral waters. These waters contain essential minerals that can regulate your mood, reduce stress, improve cognitive function, and even increase longevity. From warm mineral pools to saunas, spa treatments, and daily yoga classes, we’re your shortcut to feeling better—fast.

Taking time to pause isn’t a luxury—it’s essential. Whether you’re seeking stillness, stress relief, or a chance to reconnect with yourself, WorldSprings offers a sanctuary specifically built to support your nervous system. From warm geothermal pools to invigorating cold plunges, the gentle rhythm of hydrotherapy helps regulate your body and mind. Add in calming saunas, performance therapy, or a guided soak circuit, and you’ve got a wellness routine that brings you back to balance—even during the busiest season.

This month, allow yourself the gift of slowing down. Come solo, bring a friend, or invite someone who might need a reset, too. Breathe deeper. Let the warm mineral water carry the weight of the day. Even a single visit can be a powerful step toward restoring energy, clarity, and calm.

The Health & Wellness Benefits of Yoga

on May 19, 2025 | 4 minutes

The Health & Wellness Benefits of Yoga As part of our holistic approach to wellness here at WorldSprings, we offer an array of wellness classes to compliment soak reservations. Our yoga and movement studio, The Sanctuary, is the perfect place to take advantage of yoga’s health benefits and give the practice a try. It might be just the thing to help ease your aches and pains, detox from the busyness of modern life, and melt away stress from both body and mind. Founded in India around 2700 B.C.E., yoga was created as a philosophy on how to live well and includes eight limbs, or branches (1). The asana (the physical limb) is most commonly practiced here in the U.S. along with elements of pranayama (breathwork) and samadhi (meditation). If you’re new to the practice and interested in yoga for wellness, you’ll find it’s an accessible and versatile program that improves overall mobility, endurance, and fitness by focusing on the body’s natural tendency to heal through the mind-body connection (2). Physical Benefits of Yoga Improves Flexibility & Balance Moving and stretching in specific poses increases the range of motion and lubrication in both the joints and the spine (3). Though reduced flexibility is a natural part of aging, studies have shown yoga both slowed this process and improved overall balance in older adults (2). Increases Muscle Strength Since many poses require you to support your own body weight, yoga builds strength with consistent practice. Poses such as plank, upward-facing dog, and downward dog promote upper body and back strength while standing poses strengthen hamstrings and quadriceps (3). May Boost Immunity It’s well known that both chronic stress and inflammation increase one’s risk of illness and injury. Studies have found a direct link between practicing yoga and better immune system function because it eases chronic stress and reduces inflammation (4). Cardiovascular Benefits Yoga lowers blood pressure for those with hypertension and, with increased bodily awareness, helps you sense imbalances in blood pressure (5), improves circulation, improves lipid profiles, and has been shown to lower blood sugar in folks with non-insulin-dependent diabetes (6). Though not all classes will get your heart rate up to aerobic levels, quick flow classes and the more rigorous Ashtanga style will. Improves Bone & Joint Health Since yoga puts less stress on joints than many forms of exercise, it’s a wonderful option for those with arthritis or previous injuries. The precise movements increase lubrication in and strengthen muscles around the joints and the spine, thus improving their function (3). Studies have shown even 12 minutes of yoga per day improves bone density (2). Mental Benefits of Yoga Alleviates Anxiety & Depression While all exercise boosts energy and mood, yoga has been shown to reduce cortisol levels, lower your resting heart rate, and ease symptoms of anxiety and depressive disorders (3). This is due to the emphasis on dynamic movement synchronized with controlled breathing and the importance of the body-mind connection. Reduces Stress & Improves Sleep One of the frequent sayings in yoga is to drop out of the mind and into the body. When you do this and focus on the present, it quiets the constant worries running like a ticker tape through your mind. It takes practice, but with a good teacher, the combination of physical activity with meditation and breathwork creates a sense of calm that sticks with you throughout the day and into the night (4). Tips for Your First Class A successful yoga practice is about more than keeping up with the flow. Here’s what you need to know to enter the space with respect and get the most out of your class: Arrive up to 10 minutes early to check in at The Spa front desk and walk over to The Sanctuary. Listen to your body. Notice if or when you’re not able to breathe deeply and the difference between discomfort and pain (8). Avoid heavy meals. A light snack an hour or two before class is fine. Wear comfortable, fitted tops since you’ll be doing inversions, pants to support free movement, and plan to be barefoot. Fill your water bottle and grab a mat before silencing your cell phone. With complimentary classes included within your soak reservation purchase at WorldSprings, we hope you’ll begin your yoga for wellness journey by booking today. With so many physical and mental benefits of yoga, we know you’ll leave here feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. And remember, no matter what Instagram tells you, yoga is for everybody, no matter your fitness level. Sources: McCoy, J. (4 January 2019). Mindfulness & Meditation Tips for Your Spa Day

on May 7, 2025 | 5 minutes

Mindfulness & Meditation: Incorporating Mental Wellness into Your Spa Day Spa days offer the perfect opportunity to release the stress of daily life and recenter yourself. One practice that can further elevate the advantages of your spa visit is mindfulness meditation. Whether you’re receiving a relaxing massage, soothing facial, or revitalizing hot springs soak, mindfulness techniques and meditation exercises allow you to eliminate all distractions and entirely focus on getting the most out of your treatment. Read on to discover the benefits of mindfulness practices and learn how to incorporate them into your rejuvenating WorldSprings spa visit. What is Mindfulness Meditation? Mindfulness is the state of being focused and present, allowing an individual to gain full awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and sensations (1). Meditation aids mindfulness (2). Training yourself in mindfulness meditation teaches you to quiet negative, intense, and racing thoughts while calming your body and mind. The combination of mindfulness techniques with meditation exercises encourages you to accept and acknowledge your present physical, mental, and emotional state without judgment. Practicing mindful meditation is relatively simple and doesn’t require any tools or products — all you need is practice, a quiet and comfortable location, and an open mind. The Benefits of Integrating Mindfulness Meditation into Your Spa Visit Enhance Relaxation Massages, facials, and hot springs soaks provide tranquil, relaxing experiences designed to melt away tension and improve your overall well-being. But what if you could amplify these effects? Adding mindfulness practices will help you cut out the outside noise and distracting thoughts to truly focus on your treatment. Boost Your Mood and Mindset Even in the most peaceful spa environments, your daily responsibilities, hectic schedule, and general stressors can affect your mood. A negative or gloomy mindset can inadvertently leave you less receptive to the benefits of spa treatments. Fortunately, mindfulness meditation presents the perfect fix for mental distractions. This practice gives you the tools to acknowledge your feelings, refocus your attention from wandering thoughts, and practice gratitude. Mindfulness techniques put your body, mind, and emotional state in the right space to receive the full benefits of a spa visit. Refresh Your Focus The spa is a common destination for those who feel burnt out. When you’re physically and mentally exhausted, mindfulness meditation perfectly complements spa treatments. It is a workout not only for your mood, but also for your brain. This mental exercise brushes away muddled, excess thoughts, sharpening your focus and keeping you in the present. Your brain becomes refreshed and revitalized, opening you up to new ideas that can benefit you professionally and personally. 3 Valuable Mindfulness Tips Mastering mindfulness techniques takes practice and intention. To get the hang of it quickly, read on for a list of helpful suggestions. While everyone’s mindfulness journey is unique, there are some general mindfulness tips that will help you get started. Put these methods into action and engage your brain for a truly restorative experience. 1. Focus on Your Breathing and Body The first step is to narrow your focus. Pay close attention to your breathing — take deep, slow breaths, observing how your body feels as you inhale and exhale. Feel the rise and fall of your chest and the sensation of the air entering your lungs. Give yourself a full mental body scan and take note of any parts of your body that feel especially tense or uncomfortable. If you’re getting a massage, let your massage therapist know about these spots so they can give them extra attention. As they work, focus on these problem areas and notice how the feeling changes from the beginning to the end of your treatment. Think about the pressure and warmth of your massage therapist’s hands and how their movements work the tension out of your muscles. Keeping a strong connection between the body and mind ensures you fully experience the sensations and benefits of your treatment. 2. Stay in the Present Remaining present is one of the most important and challenging aspects of mindfulness meditation. The mind tends to wander when you’re relaxed, so if you can sense this happening, there are different ways to bring your mind back to the present. For instance, try to focus on your surroundings or different sensations throughout your body, including the intensity and location. Don’t be discouraged if you repeatedly get distracted — it’s completely natural and part of the process. 3. Soak in a Floating Sound Bath A floating sound bath offers similar calming effects as a soak in mineral hot springs. During this treatment, floating in the shallow water lets a sense of calm wash over you. The soothing sounds of vibrations help settle nerves and improve relaxation (3). Before or after your spa experience, we encourage you to take part in our floating sound bath class. Enhance Your Mindfulness Practice at WorldSprings For those new to mindfulness meditation, a sound bath might make reaching a deep meditative state easier. Ambient sound serves as a guide, helping you keep your focus on your breathing and body. Adding WorldSprings’ complimentary sound bath and floating sound bath treatments to your spa visit can be a healing and meditative experience. 1. Mindfulness exercises. Mayo Clinic.
