The Arts District & Crow Museum of Asian Art
With over 118 acres, Dallas boasts the largest contiguous urban arts district in the nation3. After admiring the award-winning architecture or perusing the many galleries, parks, and theaters, you can honor Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month by exploring the Crow Museum of Asian Art. Upcoming exhibitions include The Shogun’s World, Japanese Maps from the MacLean Collection, Anila Quayyum Agha: Let One Bird Sing, and Cecilia Chiang: Don’t Tell Me What To Do (3).
Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden
Late spring at the beautiful White Rock Lake is the perfect time to visit the gardens before the heat of summer settles in. The area, spanning 66 acres, features 11 gardens, including Nancy Rutchik Red Maple Hill with over 80 varieties of Japanese maples and waterfalls; the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden; and A Tasteful Place, one of the newest gardens, which focuses on locally grown food and includes a pavilion, kitchen, and free daily tastings (4).
Perot Museum of Nature and Science
Although the current location was founded in 2012, the museum’s history dates back to 1936 when the Museum of Natural History opened in Fair Park (5). Since merging with The Science Place and The Dallas Children’s Museum, Perot Museum of Nature and Science is now a massive four-story facility that includes 11 permanent exhibits like The T. Boone Pickens Life Now and Then Hall with its massive fossils and the Rees-Jones Foundation Dynamic Earth Hall where you can touch a tornado in a simulator. All exhibits provide an immersive, hands-on learning experience for the whole family. For adults, from April through October, the museum also offers Thursdays on Tap featuring live music, food, drinks, and games.
The Reunion Tower
Incorporate some romance into your Memorial Day activities by catching a Texas sunset with the most incredible views from anywhere in Dallas. At The Reunion Tower, affectionately known by locals as “The Ball,” you’ll experience unparalleled 360-degree views of our gorgeous city on an indoor/outdoor observation deck. Things to Do This Fall in Dallas 1. The State Fair of Texas The Lone Star State doesn’t shy away from going all-out, and it doesn’t get much bigger than the State Fair of Texas! Last year’s attendance broke records, drawing in over 2.4 million people2. From September 26 to October 19 this fall in Dallas, you can enjoy family-friendly exhibits and activities, thrilling rides, live music, delicious new and classic fair foods, and much more. This fair is imbued with all things Texas, from the iconic Big Tex statue that watches over the festivities to the exciting and diverse rodeos at Fair Park Coliseum. Bring your family and friends and get ready for a day full of fun. 2. Autumn at the Arboretum Every year, the Dallas Arboretum sets up an enchanting themed pumpkin display for Autumn at the Arboretum. This year, the Pumpkin Village is transforming into ¡Mundo México! from September 20 to November 2. The spectacular event uses more than 110,000 pumpkins, squash, and gourds. As a celebration of Mexican culture and the harvest season, the display allows you to explore seven regions of Mexico, recreated with detailed gourd artistry. The display also features stunning alebrije-inspired sculptures by world-famous artists Jacobo and María Ángeles. Go pumpkin hunting, take plenty of photos, and enjoy the beautiful autumn aesthetics. In addition to their displays, the arboretum hosts daily events throughout the season. Sit for tea, listen to live music, bring your kids to the Children’s Adventure Garden, or take a historical tour of the DeGolyer House. 3. Dallas Farmers Market Don’t let harvest season pass you by without checking out the farmers market! Nestled in the heart of downtown, the Dallas Farmers Market offers visitors a variety of seasonal produce, fresh eggs, free-range meats, handmade arts and crafts, and more. Everything sold here must be grown and raised in Texas or within 400 miles of Dallas3, so you can rest assured you’re buying fresh and local. Shop for Texas-grown pumpkins and apples, pick up some local goods and merchandise, and finish up your shopping trip with one of their delicious dining options. Promising community, fresh flavors, and a healthier way of living, the Dallas Farmers Market offers a centrally located spot where you can escape the rush of the city. 4. Dallas Brew Festival Every city boasts its own favorite brews, and Dallas is no exception. The Dallas Brew Festival brings together more than 50 breweries and 150 beers to give you a taste of our local flavors. Admission gets you beer samples throughout the park, so it’s easy to try something new. In addition to brews, you can enjoy a bite from local food trucks, jam to ‘80s and ‘90s cover bands, and test your skills with lawn games. This event takes place on October 25 at Old City Park. All guests must be 21 and over. 5. Haunted Houses Ready for some thrills? Dallas has no shortage of haunted houses for those seeking some spine-tingling fun. Starting September 19 and running every weekend through November 1, step into the horrific halls of Dark Hour Haunted House. This top-rated Halloween attraction allows you to tackle your greatest fears with creepy creatures around every corner. Another popular haunt is the Moxley Manor. Open from September 26 to November 1, this attraction features three haunted houses with their own unique frights. Explore the labyrinth of horrors at Moxley Manor, which are sure to give you a scream. 6. Seasonal Sporting Events For many sports fans, fall means the start of football season—but you can also catch a basketball game, a soccer match, or even a hockey face-off. And we don’t just mean the big leagues, though we do recommend taking in a big arena game when you can. Dallas families know that high school and college sports offer just as much action and excitement, plus the opportunity to connect with friends and neighbors. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the pro teams or planning to catch a game at your old alma mater, there’s plenty of exhilarating sports action in the Dallas area. 7. WorldSprings Pools & Spa Planning vacations and going from activity to activity can be tiring. Whether you’re an exhausted traveler or a Dallas local looking for a staycation, spas and hot springs are a fantastic way to unwind when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle. Fend off the impending chill of autumn with a mineral-rich hot springs soak at WorldSprings. Our four globally inspired regions feature rejuvenating pools varying in temperature and mineral content to provide unique physical, mental, and emotional wellness benefits. Spend your time reconnecting with your loved ones or making new friends as the daily stresses of life (and your muscle tension) melt away. Beyond the pools, you can receive relaxing and indulgent treatments at our spa. Try a renewing sculpting facial or an exfoliating mineral massage or reach the deepest layers of muscle knots with a deep tissue massage. Weekend Getaways From Austin
on Sep 18, 2025 | 2 min
Day Trips From Austin If you need a quick break, day trips from Austin are easy to arrange, even last-minute. There are plenty of things to do within a two-hour drive of Austin, and plenty of towns to explore for a few hours. Georgetown For small-town vibes close by, Georgetown is about a half-hour’s drive from downtown Austin and is a great option for a day or even a few hours1. The Inner Space Caverns are some of the best-preserved caves in the state, with large rooms to explore and prehistoric animal bones on display. Go swimming or have a picnic in Blue Hole Park, or explore the shops in the historic town square. If you’re planning a spring adventure, check out the city’s Red Poppy Festival in April2. San Antonio The second-biggest city in Texas, San Antonio, is only about a 90-minute drive from Austin and is a great option for history buffs, foodies, and families. The River Walk is arguably one of the most beautiful pedestrian walkways in the state, if not the country, and a tour of the Alamo is a must for anyone who appreciates history. When it’s time to relax, the Japanese Tea Garden in Brackenridge Park is a great option2. Long Weekend Getaways Houston Weekend trips from Austin offer more time to explore towns and attractions in depth. Houston is just over two hours’ drive from Austin’s city center and is home to all the attractions you’d expect the biggest city in the state to have. The Houston Theater District takes up 17 blocks and includes symphony, opera, and ballet venues2. Galveston Island Close to Houston, Galveston Island has 32 miles of beaches and numerous museums and art galleries to explore. The island also has multiple performing arts venues, including the Grand Opera House, the East-End Theatre Company, the Galveston Symphony Orchestra, and the Galveston Ballet. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are four national forests (Angelina, Davy Crockett, Sabine, and Sam Houston) and the Caddo National Grassland and Lyndon B. Johnson National Grassland in East Texas. These areas have many options for camping, hiking, boating, fishing and hunting. Your Perfect Austin-to-Dallas Itinerary A weekend getaway in Dallas is worth a somewhat longer drive—but there are lots of things to see and do along the way, so you can make a real road trip of it. The Highway 281 Route If taking Highway 281 (less direct, but much more scenic than I-353), take a detour to Dinosaur Valley State Park. In this 1,524-acre park, dinosaur footprints were found more than a hundred years ago4. The footprints can often be seen on the banks of the Paluxy River, where visitors can go boating or fishing. Not far from Highway 281, Lake Buchanan is another great destination for fishing aficionados. The lake is full of striped bass, white bass, largemouth bass and Guadalupe bass. There are also watersports options like jet-skiing for those seeking something more active3. Heading east from 281 towards Dallas, stop in Fort Worth, one of the closest cities to Dallas, with a unique style and culture.5 Its historic stockyards host the world’s only twice-daily cattle drive. Visitors can watch teams of cowhands dressed in authentic Western clothing drive longhorns through the Stockyards on Exchange Avenue. The Fort Worth Water Gardens—next to the Fort Worth Convention Center — is an urban park open all year round and perfect for unwinding outside. The Sid Richardson Museum, in a restored 19th-century building in Sundance Square, has a collection of art depicting the American West. The museum is free and open by reservation. The I-31 Route And if you’d rather drive directly to Dallas on I-35, stop in Waco and see the Magnolia Market at the Silos, the Armstrong Browning Library, or the Black Gospel Archive. Your Dallas Spa Day Destination Upon arrival in Dallas, stop to visit WorldSprings and spend a few hours (or the full day) finding the perfect pool to help you relax. Especially when traveling with friends or loved ones, spending time in the water can help improve social wellness and reduce overall stress. WorldSprings has four globally inspired regions, all included in the price of an adult soak reservation. The varying hot springs were inspired by springs from around the world and have different temperatures and mineral balances to meet guests’ physical and mental health needs. Some of the pools have fresh water while others are as salty as the Dead Sea, and they can range from cold plunges (perfect on a hot Texas day) to warmer than 100 degrees. Need to work out some knots in your muscles after a long drive? WorldSprings’ Spa has several body and facial treatments available in addition to saunas. The venue is open daily from 9 AM to 8 PM. (Good to know: A three-hour soak is included in all Spa treatments — up to $79 value). If you’re ready to relax and unwind without traveling far from home, book your visit to WorldSprings today. on Sep 10, 2025 | 6 minutes
Gift a Hot Springs & Spa Experience at WorldSprings We all know a friend, family member, or colleague that seems to own everything. Instead of another tangible gift, why not give them an experience gift like a WorldSprings gift card? A trip to WorldSprings is an excellent staycation activity for locals and a great destination for out-of-towners to add to their getaway itinerary. Visitors get a chance to connect, relax, and recharge while making memories and bonding over a shared experience. Why Experiences Are Better Gifts Experiential gifts can create longer-lasting emotional responses and build better relationships when compared to material objects1. Gifting isn’t just about immediate gratification but rather how you want them to feel over time. In other words, a gift that provides long-term satisfaction is often more meaningful2. Giving the gift of a respite from their busy routine is perfect for everyone on your list, like your mom who could benefit from spa gifts to encourage “me time,” your best friend who’s always on the go, or your partner who could use a day to relax and unwind. After all, who couldn’t use an opportunity to focus on self-care? To add a personal touch, pair the WorldSprings gift card with a handwritten note recommending your favorite spa treatments or suggesting a soak in a particular globally inspired region of the wellness destination. The South Pacific Region is open to kids and adults, making a visit to WorldSprings the perfect family experience gift. Why WorldSprings Gift Cards Are Ideal for Any Occasion A WorldSprings gift card shows thoughtfulness because it encourages relaxation, rejuvenation, and wellness — something everyone deserves but rarely prioritizes. Presenting someone with an experience gift says, “I care about you” by opening the doors to enjoy something new. One of the most incredible things about a WorldSprings gift card is that the recipient can use it at any time! If you give experience gifts for couples on Mother’s Day or Christmas, for instance, the lovebirds can take a relaxing soak now or wait to visit the open-air facilities when the weather gets warmer. Order Your Experience Gift Cards Today A gift card to WorldSprings lets the recipient choose how they want to chill out. With more than 40 mineral hot spring pools, invigorating cold-plunge pools, indulgent spa treatments, and saunas all in a serene setting, WorldSprings offers a wellness escape like no other. The friendly staff and top-notch facilities guarantee visitors will have a tranquil or energizing experience. The destination also includes a chance to refuel at The Springs Café & Bar and enjoy poolside drink service during a soaking session. WorldSprings becomes livelier after dark. In the evenings, visitors can share stories around the fire pits and meet new people in the process. Giving the gift of relaxation can give you a little endorphin boost, too. Not only do you get to experience the joy of seeing your spouse or bestie light up when they open your gift, but you can feel good knowing that they’ll be completely relaxed and stress-free when they slip into one of WorldSprings’ mineral hot springs. Whether for a birthday, a holiday, or just because, a WorldSprings gift card is a thoughtful way to show you care. Visit WorldSprings today to purchase the perfect wellness gift and know you’re delivering happiness in the moment and long after. 1. Chan, C. and Mogilner, C. (December 29, 2016).
